Hello! My name is Lynn R. Huber and I am the Maude Sharpe Powell Professor of Religious Studies at Elon University in Elon, NC. I have taught at Elon since 2004.
I am originally from Portland, Oregon, and regularly spend time there. Growing up in the Pacific Northwest was a gift. My mom and dad encouraged me to explore and spend time outdoors. They took me fishing, clamming, crabbing, and birding, things I continue to enjoy doing.
I love learning about the natural world and am interested in learning more about fungi, mosses, and lichens. I’m always taking pictures of the tiny worlds I see on the forest floor.
With my spouse, I am learning more about foraging for food. We have a secret spot for morel mushrooms (iykyk), and we forge pawpaws, permissions, wild onions, violets, etc.

I have also had a lifelong interest in art and crafting. I draw, work with oil pastels and charcoal, construct with paper mache, felt, embroider, collage, etc. I occasionally sell my work on Etsy.
My life is ruled by my beloved dogs. I love coffee and good food.
Finally, I believe in being an active citizen in my local community. In North Carolina, I have been involved with various forms of LGBTQIA+ advocacy and activism. This includes serving on the board and doing social media work for Alamance Pride, our local LGBTQIA+ Pride festival.
